St Andrew's church is situated down a narrow quiet lane in open countryside. It is a beautiful spot to come to find peace, to have a picnic, or to walk part of the Boudicca Way, which passes through the churchyard. The church itself was built in the early 14th century.
The church is a good venue for courses, exhibitions, concerts, or meetings, especially in the summer months. There is a composting toilet available in the churchyard, and tea/coffee making facilities in the church. The pews were removed in the 1960s and the floor is carpeted throughout. Chairs can be arranged in a variety of formats. Seating is available for up to eighty people. Healing services, and quiet days can be arranged on request. A variety of courses on aspects of the Christian Faith can be arranged for groups of between two and ten people at a time that suits you.
Services
Our normal Sunday service is at eleven o'clock: first Sunday Holy Communion; second Sunday Matins; third Sunday Family Service 10am at Dickleburgh Church; fourth Sunday Common Worship Morning Prayer. The fifth Sunday is a benefice service at one of the six churches. To find out about our services on a particular day visit the Services page
There is a box of toys available for young children at St Andrews.
Every Wednesday at nine o'clock, Morning Prayer is said, together with prayers for the parish, all the people who live and work and worship here. The church is usually open for this service, but when both Gale and the Rector are away they will say the prayers wherever they are. If you want a particular person to be remembered please contact Gale. If you would like to go inside the church when Gale is not there please contact the churchwarden.
Forthcoming Events:
We are planning a Festival for this summer. 20th, 21st and 22nd July 10am to 4pm. The title will be "Thelveton Olympics". It will include flower displays on the theme "Games we play", and a variety of games for children on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Light refreshments will be available throughout.
There will also be a band concert in church the Sunday 9th September. Tickets will be available early in the summer.

News from Thelveton
2011
This year has not been easy at Thelveton, though we had a wonderful harvest lunch, and some good times of fellowship. Our Carol Service was well attended, and we were delighted to have some of the children taking part. Sadly we had to cancel the band concert this year because we had not sold enough tickets to bring them up from Essex. The churchyard trail is progressing and the children's activity associated with it was well used in Open Churches week. The toilet continues to be a great assett and is used in a responsible way nearly all the time! Our biggest challenge was the damage done to the west and south windows when children broke in. The children concerned have been found, and we pray for them, that they may come to know that they are loved by Christ. We cannot always rest in green pastures, and this year has felt a bit like walking in shadow, but the light of Christ will guide us even in the darkest places. We give thanks for the many friends who have shared the journey with us, and given us help when we needed it. Gale
Harvest 2010
What a wonderful surprise to be visited by several of the Foreman family, who had come back to visit graves, and stayed to join in our celebrations. Twenty adults and three children met for worship, and seventeen sat down for a Harvest Lunch of soup, ploughmans and apple pie.
Band Concert 12th September 2010
Another wonderful evening of music ended with this fantastic sunset over the fields from the church. See you again next year, Same time, same place.

Harvest 2009:
Sixteen people sat down to Harvest lunch this year. The Thanksgiving Service following the lunch was a joyful occasion with Rev'd John Adlam leading us in worship. The lunch and sale of harvest gifts raised £53 for EACH. Thank you to all those who came and supported this worthwhile cause.
Thundersley Brass Band Concert "Last night of the Proms"
Sunday 12th September 2009
Again, a truly memorable occasion, which raised almost £200 for EACH.
Churchyard improvements:
We have spent the last year researching and gaining permission to install an Envirolet© toilet in the churchyard. This is now installed and ready for use. The total cost will be in excess of £7000. South Norfolk Council has given us a grant of £2000 towards this. We have been promised a donation of £4000. We do have sufficient in reserve to cover the remaining costs if we need to, but we are not a wealthy church, and our regular income is less than £300 a month to cover maintenance and mission. The toilet is available to all those who use the churchyard to tend graves, walk the local footpaths, or picnic in the grassy area north of the church. If you would like to contribute towards the cost of the toilet all money would be gratefully received. Please give any contributions to one of the churchwardens, or send to the treasurer, Mr M. Hodgkinson, 55, Merlewood, Dickleburgh, Diss, IP21 4PL.
Stained Glass Memorial
Corinne Moore has create a beautiful stained glass medallion to commemorate our 700th anniversary. It was dedicated at the service on 2nd November.
Thundersley Brass Band Open Air Concert "Last night of the Proms"
Sunday 14th September 2008
What a marvellous time we had at Thelveton in 14th September. The weather was truly kind to us. Several families brought tables, complete with candles, chairs and picnic baskets. others brought rugs and deckchairs. A few people took to the marquee, but everyone else settled out on the grass for a perfect evening of fellowship and beautiful music.
And the Band! What can I say about the band? The Thundersley Brass Band, as always, was superb.
All proceeds went to EACH. Thank you everyone for your support.

This was part of the Scole Open Gardens weekend. Thelveton is part of Dickleburgh and The Pulhams Benefice, but is in the civil parish of Scole. The civil parish supports us with work in the churchyard. As the church is the only meeting place in Thelveton village, we are delighted to be able to support the community use of the building as well as the churchyard.
